Drumpellier Home Farm

The restoration and conversion of this unique grouping of 19th century Grade B listed farm buildings located on the banks of the Monklands Canal at Drumpellier, Coatbridge. Formerly the Home Farm of Drumpellier House, the seat of the Buchanan family, it had become dilapidated and in parts completely ruinous.

Because of its sensitive location within an area of Greenbelt, it was necessary to obtain consensus with the many interested parties, stakeholders and members of the community of an acceptable overall package of proposals. The scheme eventually adopted involved the conversion of the home farm into 23 individual apartments and the rebuilding of the ruinous dovecot. The project also included the provision of visitor facilities and the upgrade of the Monklands Canal Walkway.

The Developer was Classical House Ltd. The project was implemented  in association with North Lanarkshire Council, The Strathclyde Greenbelt Co, The Wise Group and British Waterways.
